Want to know what it’s like to be a member of TRYPO? Don’t take it from us, here is a message from a TRYPO alum:
“TRYPO was the place where I felt most content being who I am and doing what I was put on the planet to do! I loved my Saturdays in the orchestral rehearsal hall with TRYPO because I was born a musician… so I found my ‘home away from home’ at TRYPO. Every week, I was excited to rehearse amazing music with other gifted young musicians in Pittsburgh. I got chills when the oboist played the tuning “A” signifying the beginning of rehearsal. My euphoria was wherever I play with this, “my” orchestra.
“As a natural born musician with an obsession for music and a desire to collaborate with other like-minded young people, TRYPO was my place of contentment, joy, and passion. Many young people never find peers who understand them. They feel misunderstood and separate. I am indebted to my years in Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra for being my home where I was understood and connected.
“My membership in TRYPO equipped me so much for college ensembles. I am the principal harpist in BW Symphonic Wind Ensemble and am playing the Britten Harp Cadenza in our Symphony Orchestra concert next week! I’ve made Dean’s List every semester and have just been selected to receive a scholarship in the fall. I owe my preparedness for professionalism in major ensembles to my experience in TRYPO.”
– Hannah Stater (TRYPO Harpist from 2010-2015, current Harp Performance Major at Baldwin Wallace University)
