Giving Tuesday Testimonial – Jim Nova

by TRYPOintern
TRYPO Trombone Coach, Jim Nova, shares how his work with TRYPO inspires him and how you can ensure that this important work can continue by supporting our Giving Tuesday campaign, “The Golden Ticket to Giving”.

I’ve had the joy of working with the terrific brass students of TRYPO for several years as its brass coach on sectional and side-by-side days. My favorite experiences with the students are when I’ve been able to show them how it’s more important “what” wrote the music, rather than “who.” I endeavor to show them that the real power of music is storytelling through the art of sound. While I of course help the students with the technical aspects of improving their instruments, the true power of art is paramount. The real-life skills the students learn from these incredible experiences by bringing strong personal responsibility to a powerful group endeavor like playing in a symphony orchestra will serve them well past their years in TRPYO, whether they continue playing their instruments in the future or not. If you’ve crafted your playing to make a great piece of art, come to life in a live concert, imagine what a piece of cake a job interview will be! TRYPO continues to create a safe haven for these character-building experiences and can only do this with the support of financial support from donors who share these values. Please give generously so this vital work can continue!
