Families should not be discouraged from applying to TRYPO due to financial limitations. TRYPO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to keeping costs as low as possible without diminishing the quality or depth of programming. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to ensuring that no deserving young musician be denied participation based on financial means.
It is also easier than ever to ask for help. The Scholarship Application Form is private and simple to fill out. You simply tell us what you need. For most families, scholarship assistance is for TRYPO tuition fees. However, for families who need some extra help, we also have the Musicians’ Assistance Fund, which can help with private lessons, instrument maintenance, and other expenses that arise from being a young musician.
The scholarship process happens after auditions. So if you are a parent/guardian perusing our website, wondering if you can afford our program if your child is accepted, the answer is “Yes, you can!” Please know that we have never turned away a student due to a lack of family finances. Because once you are a member of the TRYPO Family, you are just that… Family. And family takes care of family.
We are greatly indebted to the BNY Mellon Foundation of Southwestern Pennsylvania, the Jack Buncher Foundation, the Grable Foundation, the PNC Foundation, the McKinney Charitable Trust, and the Paul J. and Charlotta Ross Young Musician’s Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation for underwriting our scholarship program in recent years.
