For our first Senior Spotlight of the 2022-23 season, we are featuring three seniors from our violin section. Learn more about Antonio, Maria, and Viola below!
Antonio
Antonio has been a part of the #TRYPOfam for eight years. During his time in TRYPO, Antonio has played violin in Symphonette and Young Peoples Orchestra. Antonio joined TRYPO because he wanted to find an inclusive orchestral community. “As someone with autism, it’s hard to socialize with others with the same interests as you. TRYPO definitely made me feel at home whenever I came to rehearsals.” His favorite memories were the Symphonette trip to DC in 2018 and the Conquer Carnegie Tour. Antonio is graduating from The University School, and his future plans include going to Millersville University to study meteorology. His advice to future TRYPO students is “to put in the work. Doing so will make you feel accomplished, and you can enjoy the music around you!”

Maria
Maria has played violin with TRYPO for four years. She has participated in both Symphonette and Young Peoples Orchestra. When asked why she was interested in joining TRYPO, she responded, “I wanted to join a community in which I could meet and collaborate with other young musicians who also enjoy making music together at a challenging level and in doing so, grow as a musician personally.” Her favorite TRYPO memory is the Conquer Carnegie Tour. Maria is graduating from Taylor Allderdice High School. She plans to attend Fordham University to study psychology. Her advice to TRYPO musicians is, “always have confidence in yourself and don’t be afraid to make difficult decisions to get where you want to be.”

Viola
Viola has been a member of TRYPO’s violin section for four years. During that time, she played in Symphonette and Young Peoples Orchestra. She joined TRYPO because she. knew people who participated in TRYPO when she was younger, and she was encouraged to audition by her private teacher right before she entered high school. “I love playing in ensembles, so I was very excited about the opportunity.” When asked about her favorite TRYPO memory, Viola said it was the Conquer Carnegie Tour. Viola is graduating from The Ellis School and will attend Northeastern University to study computer science and game development. Her advice she would like to share with future TRYPO musicians is, “Enjoy your time playing in TRYPO! Spending time playing music in a group every Saturday has been a highlight of my high school experience, and my advice is honestly just to immerse yourself in the music and have fun!”
