TRYPO alum, Maura Boston, shares how TRYPO helped her grow as a musician.

by Robin Thompson

TRYPO provided me with a tremendous opportunity to grow as a musician and play music with the most talented students in the Pittsburgh area. The high-caliber staff members were always supportive and taught me the skills I needed to perform at the next level. I loved meeting students from other school districts who shared a similar dedication and interest in music (I still keep in touch with my TRYPO friends today!). Our weekly TRYPO rehearsals accelerated my musical development, and I was able to apply this new knowledge to the other music programs I participated in at Upper St. Clair High School.

TRYPO instilled my passion for music and the arts and showed me how I can use music to give back to my community.

After graduation, I attended the University of Notre Dame where I played the tenor saxophone in the marching band and the clarinet in the concert band. During my time in college, I was fortunate enough to perform at many college football games and also internationally in Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, and Australia. Even after my college graduation, I found ways to continue playing music during the five years in lived in Washington, DC (Arlington Concert Orchestra) and now in Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra).

TRYPO is an incredible organization with an amazing capacity to impact both students and the Pittsburgh community. Your support provides top-notch educational opportunities for talented students to develop in ways they never thought were possible.
