Join us for our Spring Concert Series: Music of the Americas on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Carnegie Music Hall of Oakland, featuring TWO performances at 1:15 PM and 5:15 PM. This season’s programming celebrates the music of North and South America and the composers who influenced it. From Astor Piazzolla and Michael Markowski to Béla Bartók, Felix Mendelssohn, and George Gershwin, we’re exploring the unique sounds brought to us by these musical minds!

  • Join TRYPO for the 2023-24 season! Choose from several ensembles for beginner to advanced musicians, ages 7-19: Young Peoples Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonette, Tutti Strings Auditions will take place in person in May/June 2023, with an option to submit video auditions for extenuating circumstances. Visit our website to see audition dates by instrument and learn more!

  • To celebrate Women’s History Month, we are highlighting all the amazing women composers that have works included in our 2022-23 season. Learn more about Yukiko Nishimura, Jessie Montgomery, Julie Giroux, and Valerie Coleman: Yukiko Nishimura, Composer/Pianist, was born in Japan. She graduated from the Tokyo University of Arts in 1990. In 1991, she began private study with Dr. Alfred Reed at the University of Miami, and in 1993 she continued her studies with Dr. Richard Danielpour at the Manhattan School of Music. Among her honors is a special mention at the 15th and 26th International Competition for Original Band Composition …

  • On February 17-19, 2023, members of TRYPO’s Wind Symphony and Symphonette ensembles traveled to Washington, D.C., to play a concert with the ISO @ Third Street Symphonic Band and Musicians from the United States Air Force Band.   • February is Black History Month, and to celebrate, we are highlighting all the fantastic Black composers that have works included in our 2022-23 season. Learn more about Anthony Barfield, Valerie Coleman, Katahj Copley, Adrian Gordon, and Jessie Montgomery:  As part of our winter concert series, Young Peoples Orchestra (YPO) performed “Invictus for Brass” by Anthony Barfield.
