Throughout the pandemic, TRYPO’s commitment has been to keep our community of musicians together no matter what. We re-invented every aspect of our programming, and are incredibly grateful that technology has allowed our four large ensembles and eleven chamber music ensembles to connect weekly over Zoom and to make music virtually. Because of technology, we have been able to launch new virtual classes like composition and music theory, hold national instrument hangs to connect kids in quarantine around the country, and start a new virtual speaker series. We have been thrilled to have strong enrollment and stellar attendance for months.
While all of this has been inspiring and important, our students are so anxious to get back to music-making in person and we are too! We want to be ready for our young musicians to begin making music safely together again next semester as soon as it is safe to do so. It has not been easy, and it is expensive: We need to raise $35,000 by December 31 to cover the cost of scholarships and COVID-19-related new expenses, like cleaning supplies, renting a larger venue to allow for distancing, touchless thermometers, gallons of hand sanitizer, just to name a few.
Because of your support, we unlocked all the levels of our Giving Tuesday campaign launch and filled out the colors in our Beautiful Together Kaleidoscope image. The four Surprise TRYPO Teaching Artists will live stream a quartet performance in January (or when it is safe to do so!) and you will be among the first to hear about it.
