Join us for our Spring Concert Series: Music of the Americas on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Carnegie Music Hall of Oakland, featuring TWO performances at 1:15 PM and 5:15 PM. This season’s programming celebrates the music of North and South America and the composers who influenced it. From Astor Piazzolla and Michael Markowski to Béla Bartók, Felix Mendelssohn, and George Gershwin, we’re exploring the unique sounds brought to us by these musical minds! The first concert of the day features Wind Symphony, led by Robert Traugh, and special guests Dr. Jason Kush performing saxophone on Piazzolla’s Oblivion and Chad Thompson, guest conducting a piece by Yukiko Nishimura. Wind Symphony & Symphonette Washington DC Performance with ISO @ Third Street Symphonic Band & US Air Force Band Members

The program features Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras Wind Symphony and Symphonette ensembles with The ISO @ Third Street Symphonic Band, along with members of the United States Air Force Band. The Pittsburgh Creators’ Project Symphonic Winds will be performing a concert as a fundraiser for the Moon Area Band Parent Organization on January 23rd @ 7:00 PM! The show includes Pittsburgh musicians, Pittsburgh composers, The Moon Area HS Symphonic Band, TRYPO’s Wind Symphony, and two featured “Yinzers-in-Residence” at this event: Brian Worsdale, Artistic Director/Conductor of Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras & James Rodgers, Bassoonist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Coach Spotlight: Learn More About TRYPO Alum, Katelyn Piroth
by Emily BovanKatelyn Piroth is an orchestra teacher in the Pine-Richland School District, where she teaches fourth through eighth-grade orchestra. In addition to her work in the public school, she teaches private lessons for students in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh. Ms. Piroth is also a member of the Butler Symphony Orchestra and often plays with other orchestras and various ensembles in and around the Pittsburgh area. She holds both her Bachelors’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education from Duquesne University, where she studied viola with Marylène Gingras-Roy.
