We are excited to announce the results of TRYPO’s 2017-18 Concerto Competition. Congratulations to Kayla Gilmore on winning this year! Kayla, a senior at Oak Glen High School in West Virginia, will perform Cécile Chaminade’s Flute Concertino in D major, Op. 107 at our upcoming concert, Bridge to Bohemia, on May 13. We are continually impressed each year at the level of dedication and musicianship on display by the participants. Congratulations to everyone who competed in TRYPO’s 2017-18 Concerto Competition!

by Lindsey NovaThree Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras Names Brian Worsdale as Music Director Pittsburgh, PA – The Board of Directors of Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras (TRYPO) has announced the selection of Brian Worsdale as the organization’s next music director, effective September 2018. The Brooklyn born and raised conductor, educator, and instrumentalist served over twenty years with the InterSchool Orchestras of New York where he held various conducting positions and founded the ISO Symphonic Band. Symphonette, Wind Symphony, and YPO are cancelled 1.19.19 We have been following the weather forecast for this weekend and traffic alerts in the tri-state area. As of now, it looks like the snow will have a higher impact on major roads starting at noon, which will put you all at risk on your way back home. Based on this, and out of concern for our young members, their families and our artistic staff, we have decided to cancel all TRYPO activities Saturday, January 19. The 2017-18 Season is a travel year! YPO will embark on its first international tour June 14-24, 2018 and will spend 10 days visiting Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. YPO will perform four concerts (one in Prague, one in Vienna, and two in Budapest), including a performance in Prague’s iconic Dvorak Hall (pictured above).
