Last night, March 31, would have been TRYPO’s 2nd ever Carnegie Hall performance. While we weren’t able to be in NYC, we still celebrated our awesome young musicians and amazing music together. At the time we would have been on stage, we came together virtually and listened to this playlist of our concert program, including YPO’s December 2019 performance of Stravinsky’s Suite from The Firebird. Congratulations to Gracie Zielinski for winning this year’s concerto competition! Gracie will perform the Saint Saëns Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor, op.61, with YPO on the upcoming spring concert on May 10, 2020 at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. We are continually impressed each year at the level of dedication and musicianship on display — congratulations to everyone who competed! TRYPO is hosting a free string excerpt Audition Clinic for middle and high school music students on Saturday, March 30 from 11:30 am-12:30 pm at Duquesne University’s Mary Pappert School of Music. The clinic will provide students with an opportunity to work on YPO string excerpts for the upcoming YPO auditions with professional coaches from TRYPO’s Symphonette program. Coaches will play excerpts, share tips, and talk about how to practice. Students should bring their instruments.
