Meet the Inaugural Doerksen Award Recipient- Leah Henning
by Emily BovanWhen recent Board President Dr. Paul F. Doerksen reached the end of his term in 2022, the TRYPO Board of Directors wished to honor him by creating an award to be presented to an outgoing senior. Having worked with TRYPO staff to lead the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Doerksen went above and beyond the call of the volunteer position and was a massive part of the reason TRYPO weathered the COVID storm. Starting in 2023 at the TRYPO Spring concert, this award will be given annually to a TRYPO Musician or alum who embodies the skills and spirit …

by Emily BovanWe love hearing from our alums about what they’ve been up to since their time in TRYPO! Today we feature cellist, Dan Radin! We’re so proud of his accomplishments!! Read all about Dan’s time in TRYPO and what he is doing now: Dan joined TRYPO in 2005 and played in both Symphonette and YPO ensembles. After he graduated from high school, Dan attended The University of Pittsburgh to earn a degree in Marketing with a Minor in Music. He then earned his Master’s in Healthcare Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Now, Dan is a professional musician and singer-songwriter. …

Announcing 2023-24 Season Auditions!

Choose from several ensembles for beginner to advanced musicians, ages 7-19: Young Peoples Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonette, Tutti Strings Auditions will take place in person in May/June 2023, with an option to submit video auditions for extenuating circumstances. Featuring the Works of Hispanic Composers on TRYPO’s Winter Concert

To celebrate, we highlighted some Hispanic composers and the pieces that TRYPO ensembles are preparing to perform this winter. Our 2022-23 season theme is “Music of the Americas,” so works by Hispanic composers will be heard throughout the year. Learn more about Manuel de Falla, Arturo Márquez, and Carlos Gardel: Young Peoples Orchestra (YPO) will perform Manuel de Falla’s “Tres Picos Sombreros” at the Winter Concert on December 5, 2022, at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland.
